Our third Princess cruise took us to Egypt and the Aegean on board Star Princess. Having cruised on this ship in 2006 we already knew the layout of this lovely vessel and therefore did not need to spend time finding our way around. We had previously had an interior cabin so decided to try one with a balcony. Although there is quite a difference in price it was well worth it for the extra cabin space and fresh air without having to leave the cabin. Our previous cruises had both been Caribbean so this was a complete change. Our ports of call included Naples, Athens, Kusadasi and Istanbul, before finally arriving in Port Said for the highlight of the holiday, a trip to Cairo to see the pyramids. Although this was a four hour bus journey, with an armed guard present at all times, it was well worth it and we were glad we had gone on a Princess organised trip, rather than independently, as we got back to the ship several hours later than planned. We understand that the ship will always wait for organised trips to return but not if you have gone off on your own and arrive back late. The trips to The Acropolis, Pompeii, Ephesus and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul were all very enjoyable and well worth seeing giving this the feel of a very cultural holiday. All the trips were very well organised.
The food was always very good and well presented and the service of a high standard. Our cabin steward looked after us very well and nothing was too much trouble. We did not use a great deal of the entertainment facilities but what we did was of a high standard.
We have found all of our Princess cruises to have been organised very well from start to finish. Flights have been of a good standard and transport to hotels has always been on time. All pre-cruise hotels have been of a very high standard and cost was very reasonable.
This year we are returning to the Caribbean to visit other islands on board Sea Princess and hope this will be equally as good.
