Just returned from a Princess cruise to Canada/New England. This was our first cruise with Princess as we are arden P & O fans, but watch out P & O. The ship was the cleanest we have ever been on, albeit that she is old this did not show, food was very good as were the staff.
Embarked in New York, and sailing past the Statue of Liberty at night with the lights of Manhatten behind was stunning, Wet on arriveal at Newport, but this soon cleared and we then had sunny weather with blur skys and very calm seas.
Only took 2 ships tours as we like to explore ourselves but the ones we did were good value for money, especially the lobster lunch at Charlottestown. A full day in Quebec and overnight on ship, the only qualm we had was that we were told we had to be ready to leave the ship at 7.35am when our flight was not till 6pm, there was no indication where they were taking us so envisaged a 10 hour wait at the airport, but we were taken to a hotel where our luggage was stored and we were free to explore again but had to be back for 2.30pm, they also were serving abuffet luch from 12pm. Why Princess did not tell us this as it would have put our minds at rest.
Overall this was an excellant cruise and will definately be going on Princess again. Just read the reports about the hurricane glad we were not on the one this week.
Quality of Food4
Impressed with the food in the restaurants, Horizon Court food left a lot to be desired and was disorganised.

Cabin steward - Arthur was very pleasant and could not do enough for us, he was also good at making animals out of towels. Waiters - Eddie and Francis very attentive and would bring extras for us to try.

We were also on this cruise and I agree that the itinary was excellant and weather was good. This was our first time with Princess and probably our last. We have always been with Royal Caribbean and although we ae booked on the Oceana for 2 weeks in March Ithink it will be a swift return to RCI for us. Your comment about the Quebec departure arrangements, I knew all about this as I went to the pursers desk 2 days prior and enquired and we were given the full information, you only have to ask.

The food on Sea Princess is far superior to that on P&O which is why we mainly use Princess now. The ship used to be P&O Adonia and entered service in 1998 so not as "old" as say, Oriana (95) Artemis (85)and only 2years older than Aurora (2000). It is a lovely ship with a great, warm atmosphere and all the extras you get with Princess for the same price as P&O.
