We did a similar cruise on the Sea Princess in August last year and had such a good time we decided to book again. we had a inside restricted view cabin as we had only one son aged 12 with us this year instead of having two cabins like last year this was all that was left to accomadate three . We knew the view would not be great but did not realise it would be very noisy with the lifeboats outside at night when you tried to sleep there was an awfull sound of metal grinding together not really escape completly!! complaining was a complete waste of time one night the night manager did come to listen agreed it was a problem but said he would move us if he could but the ship was full several other complaints just fell on deaf ears and we felt ignored .we also had work men up and down outside our window all the time as they were repairing one of the tenders so our privacy was invaded but they did not try to stop the noise . So please be aware if you book one of these cabins as ear plugs will be needed.
We did still enjoy our cruise as we had to make the best of it but we felt standards had dropped since last year food was still good but service quite slow in the restaraunts and horizon court often had no one to serve the roast of the day and you had to wait. my husband who is a chef definatly thought some of the food was not as good like some of the desserts did not fit the desciption.
I hope I have not put anybody off going on this ship as she is a great ship there is lots to do and my son had a good time in the kids club weather was great which helped a lot its just we lost a lot of sleep which you do not expect on a holiday.

I agree with the food. The Horizon buffet was often awful from 11.30pm... just left-over rolls and some cheese - hardly seems like this could be advertised as a "24hr Buffet". I disagree with the comment about the staff. I found them to be very helpful, particularly the Cruise Directors staff. We were greeted each evening to the theatre and whereever we went staff were always smiling and greeting us. The only aspect I would agree with is the horizon staff being slow to serve - it's a shame considering everything else

Totally agree. We were on the Sea Princess in July and having cruised on The Star Princess last year and thought ,like you, standards had dropped. we had a good cruise but just felt staff were "jaded" and did not want to go that extra bit to provide great service. Think if this had been our first cruise we would have been happy enough but since we had such a good experience with the staff, food etc last year on the Star Princess felt "let down" by Princess this year, Lots of reviews seem to have the same message-hope Princess take note as there are lots of cruise companies out there looking for our business.
