Our first cruise was a great success. We were concerned that cruising was for the elderly, sedentary types who wanted an all in package, with everything laid on.We are active, independent folk & we loved it.These were the plusses. Our cabin was spacious & very comfortable though we did'nt spend much time in it.The ship was big, with a great deal of choice when it came to eating, drinking, entertainment or recreational activities. We really enjoyed the dining, frequenting the casual, serve yourself restaurant for breakfast, lunch & afternoon tea,but opting for smart evening dining. The menus were superb and I was even able to order a curry 24 hours in advance. The service onboard was first class, our cabin boy most obliging and efficient. The ship was smart & clean throughout. The two real plusses for us were the activities and the other passengers. We met & chatted with lots of different nationalities at our casual meals & made some good friends. As for activities, our days at sea were full;I played bridge every day & we took part in one or more quizzes every day.We also enjoyed some dancing lessons & a couple of lectures..On trips ashore we took our own taxi, sometimes with others & did our own thing.we enjoyed our time ashore, without any restrictions bar time. The atmosphere on board ship was always civilised, with no bawdiness or drunkenness or yobbish behaviour. My one criticism of the Princess Sapphire was that trips ashore were expensive and ,secondly,we felt we could have had more time ashore in some cases. That apart it was great;we would certainly cruise again !

Quality of Food5
We ate lots & lots of fish.
Entertainment4
The Princess dancers & singers were great;very professional
Shore Excursions2
I went on one organised excursion. It was expensive for what it was.Our best excursions were "unplanned impromptu" trips to Ho Chi Minh City & to a nature reserve in Sabah..I even played a round of golf at Yorkeys knob !
Staff5
Wilson, our cabin boy was excellent..always available & so helpful. We found almost all staff young & cheerful.

Onboard Activities5
We swam in several pools,I ran each evening on the tartan track,I played bridge every day & we went to a variety of quizzes, often more than one a day.
