After 5 Costa cruises we decided to try another line this year. It was a difficult decison as we have always been more than satisfied with the Italian level of service. Sadly, the majority of the passengers on board Island Princess were over 70 which meant huge delays getting on and off the ship, a surge on 1st sitting for dinner and queus for the first show each evening. The bars were empty by 11.30pm and the champagne tower didn't get below the 5th row from the top. Not sure if it is was the cost of the holiday, the itinerary or the duration of the cruise which made it more appealing to the elderly. The day of disembarkation was a nightmare too. We were left standing outside the terminal waiting for our coach transfer for almost 1.5 hours. After being fed and water at a hotel, we were then deposited at a shopping mall for 4 hours before being transferred to the airport for our flight home. It has put off booking with Princess every again!
