My wife and I went on the New England and Canada cruise from New York to Quebec aboard the Grand Princess in October 2007. We have been aboard the same ship 3 years before, and found it much the same. The facilities were good, the entertainment very good. In particular, there was an English pianist, and singer, Brett Cave, who drew large crowds to a small bvenue mid-ships.

We went for traditional dining, second sitting, as on previous cruises, and on the whole the food was good, although we did have to insist on the food being hot - the first couple of nights, the dinner was lukewarm. But after we mentioned the problem, things improved.

The service aboard ship was excellent.

The itinerary was fine, although we were disappointed that Corner Brook, in Newfoundland, was substituted for Charlottetown. I am afraid that Corner Brook had little to offer and the excursion we chose there, Captain Cook's trail, was very ordinary. One or two of the ports: Saint John and Sydney had little to offer, although the locals were all charming and very welcoming, but the Fort at Louisburg, which we visited from Sydney, was well worth a visit.

Overall, not quite as good as the Baltic or Alaska, but still a very enjoyable cruise.
Quality of Food4
We ate principally in the main dining room, although we did use teh Horizon Court, for speed, when we were in a hurry, either to get ashore, or after returning to the ship. We did find there to be less choice there than on our previous cruise.
Entertainment4
Best was Brett Cave the pianist and singer. The set shows were also very good.
Shore Excursions3
Best was a day tour of Quebec city, which included Montmorency Falls, and the old city. Also the fort at Loiusbourg. The Captain Cook trail at Corner Brook was the least interesting, not helped by the weather.
