Princess’s newest superliner passes her sea trials

She set out from dry dock in the Fincantieri shipyard to test her propulsion, steering and navigational equipment ahead of inaugral season in the Caribbean in November. She completed the tests in fours days and has now returned to the dock to finish of the final interior and exterior touches.

As a sister ship to the Emerald Princess and Crown Princess, the Ruby Princess will be featuring the same dramatic piazza-style atrium that have become so popular. She will also feature the “Movies Under the Stars” giant outdoor movie screen and the adult only retreat called The Sanctuary.

It has also been confirmed that the Ruby Princess will be christened by Trista and Ryan Sutter. The Sutters met during the filming of the hit reality series The Bachelorette, the most romantic franchise after the Love Boat. They will be celebrating their Fifth Wedding Anniversary this Autumn and to celebrate this milestone they will be naming the latest Ruby Princess, which will be themed around “romantic moments and milestones”.

"We're incredibly honored to be invited to be the godparents of Ruby Princess," said Trista Sutter. "It's hard to believe that it's been five years since we got married. This is a wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and also to remind people about the importance of marking not only the key milestones in a relationship, but also making time to incorporate romance into our everyday lives. We are so excited to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!"

We are greatly looking forward to celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary aboard Ruby Princess on 6th January 2009. We have followed her progress and are impressed by the photographs, she looks beautiful. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who will be aboard and celebrating an anniverary at the same time.

Check out the Princess Cruises web site for pictures and info. Nice to hear that you're celebrating too, is it safe to assume that you are also going to be on the flight out of Heathrow at 9.45 on 2nd January?
